It was chaotic -- absolutely chaotic.

They had lost the important piece of setting, and the show was going to begin in 30 minutes. The stage hands ran all over the theatre to look through every nook and cranny; nobody had found even a clue of where it could be in the building. The actors were getting anxious. They had to be in character, and nobody was getting them ready as they were looking for the missing piece of the setting. One in particular was growing angry and annoyed rather than anxious. She had agreed to do the lead if nothing would cause her trouble. This --- this was causing her trouble. In her frustration, she threw the script to the floor before stepping on it with her dark red, high heeled shoes. The others stopped as it had gotten their attention.

"I've had enough!" she screeched. "The show starts in 20 minutes, and I'm not ready to go on stage!"

The stage hands stopped their searching to tend with her; they didn't want a pissed off primadonna to deal with with the piece missing. She smiled as she got the attention that was desired for her. The woman was at the top of her career, and everybody wanted her to be apart of their shows. Everybody. Of course, she came with stipulations. All actor/resses came with stipulations, but she came with steep stipulations. Her mother had always told her to go big or go home. This primadonna took full advantage of her high status within the actor world. She snapped her fingers and water was given to her. She wailed and flowers were placed on her vanity. It definitely was the life. Eventually, she found herself looking like her character. Another person was looking at her through the mirror. She was playing the part of a woman that was trying to get her life back on track. She lost everything, and nothing was going her way.

"Woe is me," she said while touching the mirror. "Nothing is going my way. What ever shall I do?"

"Miss," a stage hand yelped. "The curtain goes up in 5 minutes. I'm sorry to have to leave you, but we need to find the missing piece of the setting."

"What?!" she snapped. "I will not be ignored for some stage piece. Do you hear me?!"

The other actors paused as they watched the scene of the woman going off on the poor stage hand. He cowered in the corner as he tried to find a way to escape her wrath. His escape came in the form of another actor -- a kinder one -- that had a secondary lead part. She was to play the primadonna's best friend. Grabbing the raging woman by the shoulder, she yanked her away from the stage hand before taking him to another part of the stage. He nodded his thanks to her before running off. Over the speakers, the director announced they had 2 minutes until showtime.

"Well," the primadonna purred. "2 minutes until I shine. Make sure to stay out of my way."

"Ma'am," the other woman said. "I'll make sure to keep you from tripping. Break a leg!"

And the curtain rose.
I'm behind on my Prose Requests. I've been suffering through writer's block as well, so I thought I'd work through it by doing more prose requests. This was a request from SpiralingSpontaneity. She wanted something about theater actors. I thought that one of them being a primadonna might be a good way to go. I'm not sure if this is what she wanted, but its the way the story turned. Probably for the better, but whatever.

I do hope you like it! I had fun writing it! Especially since I wrote it through writer's block. It's probably written horribly because of that fact. Anyway, on to the next!
